First trip out on a 701, then after some visits in central London, over to Euston for the afternoon 730s. I hadn't realised that there was a third service now, so got a bonus on the return from Leighton Buzzard.

My first forage for new locomotive haulages in 2024 found me leaping around like a mad person at the GCR winter Steam Gala. This was in spite of my travel by rail to Loughborough being somewhat disrupted by a diversionary stagger from Woking to Clapham Junction via Staines and Richmond on 2L10 instead of Wimbledon and East Putney and a rail replacement bus journey between Luton and Bedford. I eventually managed to get to the GCR courtesy of the heritage bus shuttle for 10:15. NER 3170 railcar was promptly boarded for the novelty (with plenty of people having the same idea judging by the full and standing observations on most of its runs).

I had to endure the cold chill of a January day till the afternoon before the skittles began to fall.

L&Y 52322, BR 2MT 78018, GWR Hall 6990, BR 9F 92214 in that order. A great spectacle as usual from the GCR and a good job I decided to get some yardage from all the locos diagrammed by the GCR. Two of the four I was convinced were dud turned out to be required. Not anymore.

On the way home, my penultimate 8 car Thameslink 700 caused a divert towards Sutton.
