Some really odd goings on, Trump's defence team held a press conference in the car park of a company called Four Seasons Landscaping, rumour is they meant to do it at the Four Seasons Hotel but made a mistake.

Reading into it, it appeared that Trump's team wanted to do their press conference at the Four Seasons Hotel, a mistake was made, when they realised this the hotel had already told them to bugger off, and somewhat appropriately the shop next door sells "Adult Fiction". You couldn't make it up - more so when you see the state of the place they held their supposedly defiant speech. It couldn't be more benefiting!

Also, the third photo re-emerged on Twitter yesterday. It’s funny what happens when you say things to the press and it comes back to Haunt you, something this current government will be learning.

To be honest there seems to always be something Trump said in the past that can come back to haunt him in the present.

I mean those are some fairly important parts of the world!

They are but assuming we get a deal with the EU then we just need to maintain it. We don't have a trade deal with US through EU and one isn't going to happen soon either. We just need to keep our security relationship with US ticking over. We should be reducing our exposure to China and they won't forgive us anytime soon for giving Hong Kongers visas. Those three are important but they should not be the diplomatic focus between brexit and general election. Building relationships with the rest of the world should be the priority, most importantly joining the CPTPP.

Well, chaps, its been a great 4 years. A refreshing four years from a bloke who cannot be purchased by the establishment.
It does appear now, however, that the establishment has won once again. The Banks. Tech. The Corporate Media. They win again.
Biden won because he's not Trump and not Bernie sanders. Bernie Sanders didn't win because he's not Jo Biden, and not part of the establishment.
Harris is VP solely because she's a woman and not white.
Identity politics lives on.
Are you serious? This is crazy. I don't know where to start...

Joe Biden won because Trump has been a dreadful President who only cares about himself. He doesn't give a flying toss about the amount of damage he's done to the country he was supposed to be leading.

Trump is a narcissist, racist, sexist and made derogatory comments about a reporter who is disabled.

I'm glad he lost, as are hundreds of millions of people across the world.

That 1998 People Magazine article should be put up on giant billboards all over the US.

I think yesterday could be summed up in pictures, pictures of relief, pictures of cartoons, and pictures of tweets.

And of the many that I saw, I think these two were of the best.

Absolutely.

One thing that stood out to me in Biden's victory speech was "There are no blue or red states, only the United States".

The worrying thing is how he may be able to pack the higher echelons of government with devoted acolytes (Donald Trump Jr?) who will sabotage Biden and continue to push Trump’s interest.

Some people are speculating whether one of Donald Trump's children may run for the Republican nomination for president in 2024, and that the Trump's could become a political dynasty like the Kennedy's.

Please God no. One of them is bad enough, but two....

The most important thing about the close count is that it gives hope that the Democrats can win both Senate seats (4 and 6 year terms) in the run off vote in January. The Republicans seem to have 50 seats in the bag so if the Democrats win both Georgia runnoffs then the Senate would be tied and Kamala Harris will have the deciding vote. Hopefully that will be sufficient to force through statehood for Puerto Rico and get 2 additional seats in from 2022.
Unlikely in my view. One of the seats went to a runoff because there was a third party Libertarian candidate, and the other because two Republicans stood (it was a replacement seat so no primaries). In both cases, unless the Dems pull off something dramatic or there's a big Biden momentum effect, I'd expect that in a runoff between the top two candidates most of the voters for the others would gravitate to the Republican.

You can expect that both parties will want to get their voters out en-masse seeing as control of the senate is on the line. And there are more potential Democratic voters than Republican.

One thing that has not been mentioned is whether Jo Jorgensen, the Libertarian Party candidate, cost Trump some of the swing states. Although she appears to be out on the wacky end of the right-wing spectrum and would normally be expected to take the votes of the more extreme Trump supporters (and that is extreme), she may have picked up a lot of ‘none of the above’ voters. However, in a very tight race she might have made the difference.

And one other thing, if you think Trump isn't a part of "the establishment" then you couldn't be any more wrong.

The man is a multi billionaire.

Can't see it. Senior Republicans are already realising that electoral success for Trumpism relies on a declining demographic ie non-college educated white (mostly older) males. As time goes by the numbers simply won't add up. Republicans are more concerned about how they re-establish any relevance in California which simply can't happen with Trumpism. A future Trump candidate would have to stand on an independent ticket and find the appropriate funding. Very difficult and highly unlikely.

Well yes an no.
Nearly 50% of those that voted did vote for Trump to have a second term. So either is was not that unpopular to those that matter, the voters, or Biden is seen as unacceptable
The Democrats sole thrust as far as I can see was to run on an anti Trump platform, what were the policies other than "I will defeat Covid", well good luck with that! So to that end Biden was a better bet than Sanders, as many (perhaps many those that voted for Trump) seem to view the Democrats as the Washington Chapter of the Communist Party.
It seemed to be as choice of bad or worse.

According to CNN, Melania is urging Trump to concede the election and admit defeat.

I wasn’t expecting that.

A return to identity politics was what that poster put, ironic given that the Democrats don't really do identity in that way and the big orange baby did. Sadly that poster probably buys into the guff that drips such as Darren Crimes pops on social media.

Still, the accusation that Biden/Harris ran on solely an anti-Trump agenda isn't really true when you delve into some of the detail, largely missed in the media scrum surrounding the outgoing orange baby. There's raising the minimum wage, re-joining the Paris accord, $1.5bn investment in green tech, expanding Medicare and plenty on education reform.

Also, this focus on the % of people voting for Trump doesn't really hold face. Why? He's twice lost the popular vote by several million - it just happens that this time more people have come out to vote. I strongly suspect bar those key swing states, nobody has really changed their minds on the party they vote for in the US. This actually means that if the Democrats play their cards right and continue to focus on the rust belt states, then 2024 won't see a swing back to populism.

Perhaps. He does owe a lot of money.

I can say I have millions in the bank if I take out a loan for millions and just leave it there, to be quite honest I thinks hat is part of the reason he didn't want his tax details released, if your lenders start to think that you are no good for the money then they'll find any way to get that money back.

It's a bit like a recent story I heard about Rick Wakeman and how he was once caught sleeping on a park bench by a police officer and probably being a bit worse for wear at the same time, naturally the policeman told Rick to move on to which he did until said officer was gone and went back to lying on said bench. Now why would a successful rock musician be sleeping on a park bench?, simple he had run out of money and was homeless, what he did was successful but because Wakeman was a bit mad his ideas never made enough money to cover the costs.
It may be easy in some instances to acquire money but it is just as easy to lose it!

The margin wasn't big for a country with America's population. The Democrats should be concerned about the prospect of better Republican candidate standing against them in 2024. Marco Rubio would be very dangerous for instance. The right candidate could purge the Republican party of the most toxic elements of Trumps agenda but keep the nationalist element. The Democrats have won the opportunity of four years to sort themselves and workout how to broaden their support. Biden is a transitional figure who realistically isn't going to run in 2024. They need to work out what they transiting to. Hopefully Biden can work with Harris to have a clear platform for her to win nomination and then the presidency.

The problem for the Republican party is that, sans-Trump, they will probably descend back into the chaos of the Tea Party years. I don't know if four years is long enough for them to get their house in order.

I would like to think that nobody in the Democratic party sees things any differently.

Saw that earlier and did wonder if it's true. Following what she's just Tweeted i'm not so sure. This looks to me like she's still toeing his line.

The American people deserve fair elections. Every legal - not illegal - vote should be counted. We must protect our democracy with complete transparency.

Is Trump and Giuliani just playing delaying tactics as no evidence has been provided, even several Republican Senators are running out of patience with Trump

I wouldn't be surprised, the whole Four Seasons farce doesn't really indicate to me they are on the case, plus for someone fighting for his political future you'd have thought Trump would have given today's golf a miss...

Unless someone else in the "Trump Dynasty" has a hold of her twitter account. It wouldn't surprise me, given how "Angry Eric" has been all day.
