2014 Scotrail franchise

I have done a search and I cant find any threads on here, I think:

Does anyone know when the bidding will start? and who well be in a place to bid for it?

I do wonder if the Scottish government will be able to do a better job than the Westminster.

Doesn't expire until November 2014. Apart from the plan announced for the Sleepers to have their own franchise, dont expect much until the formal process kicks off in the 2nd half of 2013.

That's plenty of time, for awarding the winner in July 2014 to commence the franchise in November 2014

Bids for West Coast went in beginning of May, winner announced mid August. So if same timetable applies, ScotRail bids will be submitted in March, winner announced around July.

Yeah but that ran late, they issued an ITT then paused the process for a consultation before issuing a revised ITT.

Irrelevant in the context of this discussion, bids go in 7/8 months before handover day with the winner announced 3/4 months later.

Plans or not I cant help but wonder if putting sleapers as a seperate franchise will happen. The next Scotrail franchise holder will be in charge when the EGEP Programme completes and variouse others like it and will be in controll of the introduction of a new fleat (380s?) for these runs
and the probable cascades of DUs to other TOCs as a result. It is also likely that this same opperater will run the first new services to the borders and doubtless much more.


would like to see first retain it as they have done ok. I dont want NX to win it back.
