Over the past 12 months we have seen some interesting changes

* First selling up 3 depots,
* Go ahead buying up left right and center in the east of the UK.
* British Airways brought BMI
* Edinburgh Tram project finally getting completed
* Of course the train franchise trouble.

Can anyone else remember what has happened over the past year? :p

First launched against Ipswich buses
Roger French announced his retirement (give him a knighthood)
We also had a few firms go out of business, particularly in autumn.

Stagecoach extending Cambridgeshire MisGuided Bustway service on the B route to Hinchingbrooke Hospital and Peterborough - just one (insignificant) occurrence!

The bus stop changes in Birmingham City Centre due to the closing of Corporation Street and Upper Bull Street. (The square peg is still pretty crowded, thanks for asking :p)

What with the lousy weather and never ending recession, it's been a bit like living on Milton's blasted heath.

Or the fact that the Busway achieved passenger numbers that beat expectations, thus proving it has a future?

Indeed. While the construction was problematic the busway seems to be going well.

And while personally I think the thing was overspecced (what is wrong with a bit of bus only road like Gosport!) I don't feel the need to insert snide remarks like "Misguided Bust"

Indeed - I'd managed to miss the fact that the bus service has now improved beyond that agreed with the Council to use the busway - that extra Peterborough service is additional - services to Huntingdon are now every 15 minutes instead of every 20.

Leicester City Council enforced regulations to make Causeway lane and part of Charles Street in the City Centre for Buses and Cycles only, all other vehicles except certain exemptions receive a 30 quid fine.

The biggest change in South Yorkshire in 2012 was probably peace breaking out in Sheffield with a new "partnership" between First/ Stagecoach etc which saw the biggest single set of changes to routes since deregulation - First handing over some long established corridors to Stagecoach (Sheffield - Stocksbridge/ Burncross/ Killamarsh etc) and hand over their remaining minibus/midibus services to TM Travel, meaning the fleet is 100% low floor (due to the lower PVR).

Blackpool - new trams introduced

The "relaunch" of the Blackpool Tramway was probably the most significant development for me. The Flexity trams and new infrastructure have changed the system radically, although there are still conflicting opinions on whether it is a good or bad thing.

Thameslink saga which is still going on

And definitely the most important to me the withdrawal of A60/62 Stock from passenger service :(
