Does it say what traction it will be on any of them? Some nice tours there, and not really at Chingfinder prices. Is it the usual situation of no traction stated = duffs, or have they just not arranged it yet?

Before that it was nearly always 47s. Just not sure about this year.

Im hoping the first 2 via the Settle Carlisle, and the Cumbrian are 47s.
Then I can happily do 3 days of Deltics early March.

Either that or the Railtourer/ Compass tour from Hereford to Carlisle (surely got to be a 47) sandwiched by the Deltic positioning moves.

Yes it means Aircons!!! Mk2s or 3s.

I suspect most will be Brush Type 4s to make use of their 95mph capability. I quite like the look of some of the local tours that pick up from Coventry.

They are using the same rake at Nenta and Railtourer which are mainly mark 2 air-cons.

I think Mk1s can be expected on the August steam tours, should be Mk2s for the rest.

With regards to traction, as pointed out it'll be diesels from the WCRC fleet. From what I hear it is unspecified so can be pretty much anything, but with 95mph capability and ETS provision I reckon most will features 47s (or Ronnie), but don't quote me if a 33 or a 37 drops on.

For those who fancy rare track for loco-hauled passenger trains these days, the Bank Holiday Monday Southport-Carlisle tour might be of interest to some as the last regular booked loco turns on the Southport-Wigan line was in 1994! Only charters or engineering trains have brought locos to the line since, and even then it is few and far between.

That is pretty rare - the only time I've known a tour go there was one of the Pathfinder 'Lancastrian' excursions in the 1990s (with 20s/37s IIRC) and it doubled up as a service train from Oxenholme to Windermere and back!
