20 years since Clapham

Well it's exactly 20 years since the Clapham rail crash which killed 35 and injured 100 and happened at 0800 Am GMT.

I would like to give my condolences to all those who perished and all the family's who lost someone dear to them that day.

was a pretty nasty accident that, at least one of the trains was running ECS... am I mistaken or did slammers still have asbestos in those days?

It was mostly removed by then.

A terrible tragedy that changed the rail industry for the better.

There is alot of staff still working today who were involved in the crash in one way or another. It can be quite a sensitive issue for one or two of them. After recent years, let's hope that something like Clapham never happens again

It made everyone think didn't it? One thing it did benefit was safety on the railways. The rolling stock is now able to handle those sort of impacts. SPADs have been reduced significantly. Good stuff
