2 + 5 HST for Hull Trains

With 'Pioneer' set No. 222103 still out of use awaiting repairs following damage at Crofton depot, Hull Trains has secured a 2+5 HST through Porterbrook Leasing. The set is formed from out of use Midland Mainline vehicles and the company hopes to have it operational in three to give months following C4/C6 work on the trailer cars and intermediate overhaul and reinstatement work on the power cars which is currently being sources. The set is expected to see Hull Trains through until the return of No. 222010, which is expected to take another 12 months. Insiders at the company are still unavailable to confirm whether the two damaged vehicles can be repaired or new bodyshells will be required.

what happened to the HST they were supposed to be hiring a month or 2 back?

43103 was confirmed, and was supposed to be moved to Brush for remedial work 6 weeks ago, but is still sat in Long Marston .....

won't the HST be able to run faster on the hull line with a lower loading gauge?

Also I'm just working out the open access costs for this from somthing I have

2 43/0s @ 39.61ppm = 79.22
5 Mk.3s @ 11.25ppm = 56.25

£1.3547 per mile

4 222s @ 20.61ppm = 82.44ppm

Hmmm, maybe I'm wrong, seems HSTs are more expensive, thats proberbly why they went for the 222s in the first place... lol

Latest information is saying that Arriva Cross Country are going to get 3 HSTs from MML, plus 43121/103 with the 5th set coming from elsewhere.

Hull Trains won't be getting an HST. Their 222 set is under repair and should be ready by December.
