2/3 Brighton Line Disruption

A couple of queries about the information shown on Open Train Maps.

1. Blocks are shown on all line through Horley and also the Quarry Line, and Merstham. Are there two (or more incidents) taking place?
2. It is showing (2.20pm) a green light on signal 244 at Gatwick Airport. This is at the North end of platform 6. I understood that it is not possible to depart North from Platform 6. Am I wrong?

Edit: just noticed another Block between Redhill and Tonbridge. National Rail reporting a fatality between East Croydon and Gatwick Airport.

It appears so, yes

Platform 6 is intended primarily for northbound departures, the GX turns round in 5 & 6. (See Correct post below)

Which is what I thought. I was told by station staff earlier this week that trains can't depart north. I've only ever seen southbound departures.

Platform 7 can't depart North. It's possible that Platform 6 couldn't depart north previously but I'm almost certain it can now. EDIT: Platform 6 cannot depart north, see post below

According to Twitter, the incident (and I can only find one, but happy to be corrected) is south of Redhill. I'm puzzled as to why the line from Tonbridge to Redhill is blocked as is the line North of Redhill. I'm sure there will be a good reason. Can anyone suggest what that reason is, please?

A train has struck someone in the Earlswood area. It might be that electrics power has been turned off which affects more than the immediate area.

The line isn't North of Redhill, it is South

The line isn't North of Redhill, it is South

Open Trains suggested the line was blocked at Merstham which is North.
I hadn't thought about the electricity being switched off. That does make sense.

Fatality, and power off all lines, I am guessing it will be the whole electrical section, (Emergency Isolation)

Open train maps is using an out of date map for Gatwick Airport as the track layout was changed this Christmas. T244 signal is now a fixed red aspect to allow trains from the south to terminate there the return to the south, there is no longer any pointwork to allow trains to continue towards London from platform 6. The new layout allows trains from London to use platform 6 or 7 before heading to the coast and platforms 4 and 5 from the coast towards London without conflicting with each other as south of the station has also changed.

9S23 involved and it occurred between Salfords and Earlswood.
Redhill - Tonbridge was blocked because the power had been cut to Redhill and Also on the Run to Salfords.

This affected my attempt to get back home from Farringdon to Horsham earlier this evening. Not a pleasant thing for anyone to have to deal with. When I got to Farringdon station and was told there would be a train to Horsham in 40 minutes, I thought "blow that I'm not hanging around here all that time" and bought a tube ticket to Victoria then got back to Horsham on a Portsmouth/Bognor Regis service which got to Horsham uneventfully. The man on the gate at Victoria confirmed I could use my split ticket so ultimately it was only a few extra pounds spent and got back just under 20 minutes late, which was good given there were warnings of delays of an hour or more earlier in the day.
