According to sources The Buxton Express from Preston this morning has no steam train (48151). 48151 has not been reregistered for main line running. It was not allowed out from Carnforth this morning. Some unhappy punters.

48151 has been out and about most of the summer but I wonder if it's failed a FTR exam? I'm pretty sure that the tours are advertised wtih disclaimers though. It's not as though you can just switch on another kettle last minute to cover, unfortunately.

This tour was changed to Leander but has not run with steam due to paperwork issues (not sure what exactly). I believe the 8F has been stopped for overhaul.

Is it likely to be re-registered on the mainline? It was the only registered heavy freight loco operating on the UK mainline.

I see the class57 and 47 were booked a half hour stop at Denton to take on water- must have seriously leaking radiators. The train passed me going very slowly so as not to arrive at Stockport too early.

So two years passes since I booked a UK mainland railtour and the anniversary is marked by a typical NR / RTC cock up.

Tour postponed from May to September - locos changed from 8151 to 5690, all in the public domain - yet the parties succeed in cocking it up and providing the "lucky" clients with motive power they didn't want on a second rate route!

Why do UK punters put up with this type of nonsense?

My money is too hard won to be given to people who are happy short changing and lying to their clients tour after tour - yet some people seem only too happy to be robbed blind weekend after weekend!

Its a damned good job my interests spread far beyond railways!
