I came across this on RTT 1552 from Blackpool North. . Is this a one-off working or is it something new?

Given that the headcode contains a Z it's definitely a one-off.

Or rather a four-off. It only runs this week.

WCML direct closed all week, with Rugby to Stafford shut. Several alterations with 390009 working an 08.50 Preston-Glasgow, then a Glasgow-Blackpool (rev. at Preston) then a Blackpool-Glasgow (1Z77). The others are running as Z's too.

Interesting. Seems to be booked to sit on platform 6 at Preston for over half an hour, before then continuing up to Scotland.

Taken up the path of the Euston-Glasgow (the normal one that goes via Birmingham)
Appropriately enough, the trainset used had the name plate "Blackpool Belle" on it, which I think makes it 390013. Didn't look particularly all that loaded, to be fair, on a wet Tuesday afternoon.

It was 390013 yesterday.

I was on the Southbound from Glasgow, Standard Premium had 4 of us at it's busiest point, one being a member of Avanti staff. I got the impression Standard was similarly empty, though didn't venture down to look.

L boarded it southbound at Lancaster at 1413. It arrived in Preston on Platform 3 were it was staying for about 25 mnutes.

I think the reason it goes to Blackpool is so the unit isn't blocking a platform at Preston, as there's a 2.5 hour layover there for the next 1Z north.

Also a bonus that Blackpool is a weegie holiday spot.

Hi there, 1z77 the 15:51 (29/05/2025) to Edinburgh started at Blackpool North? Is this a new route operated by avanti or just due to the distribution today?

I meant Glasgow, not Edinburgh!
