I manged to intercept one of its runs down to London at Leicester at 1530. Just about to see how my photos turned out.

erm..... No it doesn't, clearly a one measurement fits all design.

I think the Blue is in line with a policy cos the 73s were blue too.

Unfortunately it would appear the EMT liveried HST is not out today incase anyone was going out on the off chance. I for one want a better shot than my first effort, the camera messed up and was only able to shoot at 1/640 shutter .

I think that could of been due to the down hill gradient.

Well, if the power car had dipped to go down and the coach hadn't... But I do see what you mean.

That's the most logical explanation.

There is no gradient change at Harpenden, I don't think there is a dip between the PC and coach, as the track appears straight, so if the is a dip it is at the front of the PC, but I think, having looked again, that the orange stripe, and the blue above it, curl upwards slightly.

EDIT:This site shows another view at leeds and to me it still looks wrong.

Well I might be wrong but I seem to remember it was down hill from Chiltern Green, and through Harpenden before heading uphill after Harpenden Junction.

It indeed goes uphill from Harpenden Junction going towards London, but I think it slightly goes downhill even more just out of the station before it goes up hill. But as other photos shows, it looks to be the actual livery.

Have to say I'm impressed - and I really wasn't too keen on EMT's early efforts on the Meridians.

But the EMT look on the HSTs is much better than either the Barbie special of GW, the grey / white of Nat Ex or the black Grand Central (which I think looks terrible).

thank god no. The majority of EMT class 43s are Paxman VP185 engine (including these 2) and there are also a fair amount of valentas still around in everyday use.
