What many people fail to realise is a very small amount of first class ticket holders actually use the lounge facilities. However, since St Pancras has a advertised buy-in facility it is used largely more than others.

Quite a large number of the cheaper airport lounges restrict passengers to 3 hours before departure so it makes perfect sense to apply this to high use station lounges.

Feel free to have a look at the lounge guide in the fares & ticketing section which provides information for each lounge on the network.

EMT don't record your time of entry or ask what train you are catching, but I imagine if anyone was to stay longer than two hours they would leave a good margin of error and then politely request payment. I don't know what the policy is at other EMT lounges (although I was once asked what time train I was getting on at Leicester with 3tph to Nottingham, and when I said an hour later, that was fine). I think it is acceptable to arrive whenever you want, particularly given the penalties handed out for missing trains on AP tickets. They can't have it both ways!

Evidently you need to go armed with a stack of cheap 1st class tickets, one to cover every 2 hours you'll be spending there :)

I doubt there are any first class tickets valued under £5 valid on EMT from St Pancras?

With their £5/£10 off vouchers it's been possible to get First Class tix to/from stations up to Leicester for free! ;)
