1st Class lounge at Paddington

Hello I have an advance ticket for thursday amd I allowed to use the lounge at Paddington? Also has anyone used the lounger what is it like?

Yes, FGW aren't as mean as certain other TOCs...

The First class lounge at Paddington is split into two parts, there's the older one which FGW describe as "traditional, Victorian feel" and the more modern part which I personally prefer.

Another question about the lounge - it says on their website, 'The lounge is located on Platform 1 and is open 05:30 to 23:59 Monday to Friday and 16:00 to 23:59 on Sunday.' Does this mean it's closed on Saturdays?

Very probably. There is no sleeper service on Saturday nights. I imagine the Sunday shift is mainly to accommodate sleeper passengers.

Possibly, but remember that Sunday evenings are the busiest time of the week on a lot of InterCity routes, and FGW's lines into/out of Padd are no exception. Saturdays also tend to be the quietest.

Ah, of course - I never thought of that! Shame, I've booked first class to go down to Taunton next Saturday.

The NRE site agrees that the lounge is closed on Saturdays, so looks like this is indeed the case. Sunday evening out of Paddington is indeed busy - with the fatality last night, the 19.37 to Cardiff was cancelled so the 20.37 was rammed...

When I used the Lounge recently, it had been refurbished again with the previous two parts being combined to form one big light Lounge with a self-service refreshment facility. They offered complimentary wine on Friday afternoons in the Lounge as well as hot drinks and cold drinks such as Coca Cola.

No not sure; I'm only going by what the website says and haven't been in there in a few years.
