Just a quick query as I'm considering doing one this summer.

Does a 1st ALR allow use of 1st class lounges at stations? Is there anything documented either way?

Yes it does. All that is normally required is a ticket valid for first class travel on one of the TOC's services for that day (any minimum price for the ticket is obviously met).

I have been disappointed by some of the lounges on the various FC ALR trips I've made but there has never been any question of not being allowed entry.
