Travelled from EUS-GLC last night on 1S26, and was advised that there was no lounge car in the Glasgow portion of the train (and therefore no breakfast option in first class either). There was a lounge car in the rake, but it was unlit and being used only as a thoroughfare for Glasgow passengers to walk all the way down to the Edinburgh lounge car.

Was the result of a fault on the lounge car or staffing problems?

Thanks

If anyone's in GLC tonight it'll be the same lounge car that'll be at the head of the sleeper.

Thinking if it's a staffing issue, are all Scotrail on-train sleeper staff based in at the various Scottish 'bases'? Or is there a London based cabin crew? I was only wondering because if it's a Scottish-based team that works south on Friday night then they'd have to be accommodated in London until Sunday and be away from home a total of three nights.

Sleeper crew bases are at Euston, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness and Ft William.

My guess will be the batteries will have gone again, a common occurrence, which can often be caused when connecting/disconnecting the mk2s. Should have been sorted out at Polmodie.

Scottish crews go to London on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday
Come back from London on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
London as per above.

Thanks for the info. Shame about the lounge being out on my trip, but I usually use it more going south rather than going north. Slept like a baby from the moment my head hit the pillow at Euston until breakfast came at Motherwell :D

In the event the train is short of a sleeper attendant then the Steward will normally step into that role, as a result there may not be a service from the Lounge Car, but it remains lit so that passengers can sit there if they so wish

If it was unlit then that would suggest an electrical fault, which would then be dealt with at Polmadie
