Does anyone know what happened to this today? It seems to have been stopped just outside the platform, with it then splitting around 15:45 and both halves coming back into the platform separately.

Cheers :)

Without any inside knowledge as to this particular circumstance, it’s likely there’s been a brake application which has only been overcome by detaching the units.

Was that the cancelled 1505 ScotRail service from Carlisle to Glasgow Central (via Dumfries and Kilmarnock)?

For through journeys to Glasgow Central, is there any ticket acceptance on the WCML (via Lockerbie) with Avanti or even TPE, as otherwise, there's a bit of wait until the next one via Dumfries/Kilmarnock?

Would a 'normal' contemplate making a through journey from Carlisle to GLC via Dumfries and Kilmarnock?

Possibly not, but going via Glasgow might be an option if there was a long wait for the next direct train to Kilmarnock, for example.

Not sure if that would occur to our hypothetical 'normal' or how quickly ScotRail could persuade Avanti and possibly TPE to allow this.

You might have the odd few as the return fares via Dumfries are cheaper than using Avanti (but not TPE).

There may be some demand from ScotRail specific fare deals such as Club 50 and Kids for a Quid.

I suppose there may be a real edge case of someone looking to break their journey en route, but this is probably thin on the ground.

Did something similar to this not happen in Princes Street Gardens in the AM peak a few years ago, blocking the west end of Waverley and screwing up the morning service across most of the central belt?

I vaguely remember that, yes.

Indeed. The cancellation in RTT shows "MY" which is the code for Coupler.
