The first 6 weeks of the 1981 summer timetable saw the final Paddington to Birmingham New St service on a Friday double headed, on 3 occasions this was a pair class 50s. The 50 were not in tandem, with the first engine being detached at Coventry. Does anyone know why this service operated in this formation? And what diagram the detached 50 went on to work......many thanks...baggy man
