1970s Morpeth mail train?

Good Day All.

In 1970/71, aged 10, I'd go down to Morpeth station of an evening, where a loco and two or three vans sat in the bay platform until leaving for Newcastle around 8 pm. One night the driver took us through the engine room!

Does anyone know where else the train stopped (I never saw it arrive), any other information about the service and what type of loco it was (it was a Bo-Bo).

Perhaps a Class 24? Gateshead had an allocation of them in the early 1970s and most of the small Sulzers were common enough on lighter postal/parcels trains.
