I was doing some research into my football team, Queen's Park, and in a report from a game against Rangers on 31/03/1931, the Glasgow Herald reported that "It has been said that the Queen's Park players have not yet recovered from the nerve-shattering experience they underwent in the recent train disaster".
In those days the team travelled by train to away games, and in the preceeding weeks had played the following away games:
28/03/1931 v Ayr
11/03/1931 v Hibernian (Edinburgh)
28/02/1931 v Dundee
21/02/1931 v Falkirk
10/01/1931 v St Mirren (Paisley)
I have looked through the Glasgow Herald archives for the days immediately following the above games, but I cannot see any mention of an incident on the railways. I have also checked the railway archives website, but again no reports on there seem to tie back to any of the above dates/places.
I was hoping that somebody here may have some idea when or what the "disaster" the report refers to actually was, or point me in the right direction where I could find out more? Any help gratefully received.
