Delayed by 30 minutes. No train guard is reason given, whether that has anything to do with fatality at Northallerton I don't know.

Going to be touch and go to get my connection to Scarborough from York, the last train of the night.

You have (a) ticket(s) to Scarborough? If so, and it is missed, you'll be put in a taxi (unless there's enough people for a minibus).

They might hold it, but TPE will want compensating from East Coast to do so (who will, in turn, claim from Network Rail). If it was all the same company, it would be more likely to be held.

Probably. I wouldn't hold my breath, you're showing a +3 at the minute for it...

I have tickets to Scarborough, yeah.

Any ideas on platforms? Both usually on 5 I think. Keep checking on my phone on the National Rail website.

Why would TPE claim from NR if it was a guard they were short of?

The Scarborough will have to be off 5. Your train could go anywhere... You're still booked into 5, but there is 0 between the departure of 1N33 and arrival of 1P62. I'd expect to be shunted across into 9 or 11, which are both free (currently) when your train is expected to be in York.

TPE would claim from East Coast for the delay to their service, East Coast would claim from Network Rail for the delay to their service as their guard will have been, presumably, delayed by the fatality which Network Rail is liable for.

Fingers crossed I get it, don't fancy waiting around for alternative transport to be sourced!

Knowing an idea of a platform helps as I know exactly where to run from and to!!

Arrival shunted on 2 minutes later. 5 minute connection now.

Fearing the worst!

FYI, You now have a +5, but your train is due in on Platform 5, and the Scarborough train due out on Platform 3.

Also, luckily the Scarborough train is later than normal, usually into Scarborough at 22:59, are there engineering works on that TPE line?

Can do 5 to 3 in 5 mins. Anyone recommend a rough idea where to get off the train to get best access to steps? I'm in E and front of the train is ABC etc

Yes, get off at the front for the northern most underpass. Less steps and a lot less congested than the bridge! I think the best place is the rear of Coach B. 1 minute, if you're a quick walker!

Edit: or you could get off around Coach E for the other underpass, can't remember which door position is best for that.

Everything at York is delayed at the moment. Delays of up to 160 minutes!

No need to worry, It appears your two trains are both scheduled to arrive/depart from Platform 5.

It's doubtful that will happen. The TPE basically has to go into platform five, the East Coast can use any of the other through platforms. The TPE will get five and the EC will end up in somewhere like nine or eleven.

You can find details on delay repay here. But basically you need to be 30+ minutes late to get anything.

IF things stay as they are, the EC should easily beat the TPE to the platform so there should be no problem. 1H08 may cause a delay at Doncaster however.

From what I can see the EC is due to depart at the exact same time as the TPE is due to arrive. I think that might be a bit ambitious!

Remember that TPE needs platform five, EC don't

Appears delayed from Kings Cross awaiting crew from delayed southbound service from Aberdeen which was delayed due to a train fault, no fault of NR by the look of it.

Just spoke to guard, who I am nick naming chocolate fireguard, as she was about as much help as one.

She didn't know/want to tell me when we were due in to York! As for platforms no interest at all, she said it will arrive where it arrives! That may be true but her attitude stunk!

On the plus side the train seems to be flying now!!

Down to 1 minute connection.

I would suggest a lot of running is in the OPs future as it's now a +2 with arrival of EC at 2222 and departure of TPE at 2224.

I'd aim for the rear of Coach B but I would be hedging my bets on which side it'll be.

TPE should be in York by now and isn't so appears to be waiting for a platform.

Edit: TPE on platform 5 so you're likely to be on 9. Right hand side if so. Just a dash across the platform, so you might make it.
