1852 Paignton - Bristol / 2156 Bristol - Exeter

Until 4th July the 1852 Paignton to Bristol and 2156 Bristol to Exeter is booked a class 143, please can anyone confirm is this service recently has been run by class 143 units.

Im guessing that this is an Exeter Job between Exeter - Bristol and return.

Cannot confirm if 143 has actually been working it but would have to be Exeter crew as they are the only FGW Depot who would sign 143s now. Possibly handful at Bristol but only to facilitate Depot movements when they go to PM for Tyre Turning.

Indeed only Exeter and a handful of Bristol SPM shed men sign them.

The 2156 also has a attachment at Bristol of a 153

21:56 BRI-EXD was a 150/2 on Monday evening.

18:52 PGN-BRI was a single 153 yesterday (Wednesday).

I've seen on a 143 on the up a couple of times now though.

A 143 used to work an Exeter-Cardiff round trip until fairly recently. Used to be a good trip with some nice fast running in places.

I think a pacer turned up for Gloucester - Cardiff once and it was no different from a sprinter to me, whereas Cardiff to Barry Island still gives me horrific flashbacks

There is a Pacer booked on a daily basis to work between Cheltenham and Maesteg Trip comes round several times a day.

Yep - had one the other week... saying that, that very train the day before was a 150, so I'm guessing that these diagrams are relatively flexible.

Was a decent run at speed to be honest, and the pacer wasn't too uncomfortable at all.

I'm not certain of the details so please don't ask me but I think it may be linked to Track Access Charges and the cheapest option taken. About 4 years ago the two Sunday diagrams were 153s but these resulted in insufficient capacity.
