185 121 spotted in Crewe 09/05/18

Hi all,

Yesterday, whilst coming in on the 20:30 Virgin service to London from Piccadilly in Crewe, I saw 185 121 just outside the station (sat by the signal on approach into P1). Being quite far out of their normal operating area, I was wondering whether this just a prep or train crew movement, or even doing some testing with the units in and around Crewe? Did a bit of a look on RTT and so far can't see anything to help!

A quick look on Real Time Trains shows it worked the 1739 Hull to Manchester, then did 5K95 1940 Manchester to Crewe, then 5F96 to Liverpool Lime Street, then 5H97 back to Manchester.

TPE drivers are road learning Crewe as part of the 68 training. The 185 is used to pass them out. You will see 185's down at Crewe most Saturday nights as part of this process.
