Why was the above train terminated at Crewe last night (21/12) and then ran ECS to Edge Hill Depot? According to Realtime Trains it says it was because the planned train being replaced by a slower train:

The original train from Piccadilly was a Pendalino as normal so why it couldn't carry on to Euston as normal I'm not to sure.

It was simply to make sure Avanti had the right number of sets in the right places for the start of service today. Presumably either Wembley would have had too many or Edge Hill too few if they hadn't terminated 1A82 short.

May have been that Wembley ICD was at capacity and couldn’t take another unit for the night?

Anybody who wanted London and had an Advance Single or whatever fixed ticket, would've got into London nearly an hour late!

They aren’t currently, but I think it’s primarily because of the work at Crewe over the holiday.

Seems to be back to full frequency from Monday 6th January. Today will be very reduced because of the strike action taking place.
