170 cab air con

Iv noticed recently a number of class 170's with black carbon like deposits in drivers cabs which appears to be coming from the roof air con vents.Has anyone else come across this and know if this is acceptable?

On southern we get that on the 171s too. It has been reported but have no further info than that.

Black dirt around the vents? If so then I've seen it in the passenger saloons of 450s, around the vents and the light covers next to them.

It does appear to be a problem across the Turbostar fleet...

Our H + S man has been on the case and it is caused by the filter housing falling out allowing air to bypass the filter due to poor design. Ours are being modified as required but not fleet wide. Depends if your TOC will pay for it.
