There hasn't been any threads about this so i would like to know more about this converting Class 165's to electric hybrids with charging points at termini the demonstrator was supposed to enter service in September but all has gone quiet could somebody tell me.

The only links I can find to it are all from September 2018 saying that it could/would/should enter service in late 2019, as nothing has been said since I would imagine it's still in it's testing stage and, if so, information on its progress will not yet be in the public domain

According to Magtec's website, they specialise in what they call "series hybrid" for commercial vehicles, which appears to involve replacing mechanical transmissions with a generator/motor pair.

I wonder whether this demonstrator (or any eventual production units) will be renumbered in the Class 2xx range. Perhaps they will end up in the Class 7xx range instead, or indeed just stay as Class 165 — albeit anachronistically.
