16-25 Railcard query

I've got my daughter coming with me on a journey on Tuesday at some really stupid time (6am).

I've done the usual split tickets that I do but with hers it is coming up £12.20 and £12.30. I was always on the understanding that the rail card could be used before 10am but it had to be over £13.

Is that the price before or after discount?

The morning peak minimum fare is £12, not £13, so those prices are correct.

Definitely £12.00 but with some caveats notably excluding AP

A £12 minimum fare applies for journeys starting between 4.30am-10am Monday to Friday excluding Advance Fares. This minimum fare does not apply on Public Holidays or throughout July and August.

Did it used to be £13? I am sure when I had one many many years ago it was something like that.

I don't need to worry about the advances as they are walk up fares

No but Network railcars has minimum fare £13 Mon to fri

16-25 (may have been Y-P then) used to have two different minimum fares (IIRC £16 and £8) but they were equalised to £12 quite some time ago. Not sure when as I've always been too old for one...

Yes, broadly £16 for return fares and £8 for single fares before both simplified to £12.

it was 17th May 2009 according to Wikipedia (not claiming that to be 100% accurate) although rail fare simplification happened in 2008.
