15th anniversary of 7/7 bombings

I thought that, with all that's going on both in this country and around the world with Covid-19, it might be forgotten that four separate acts of terrorism were visited upon the people of London and its public transport system on that terrible day of 7/7/2005. I only remembered it was the anniversary when I was momentarily feeling a bit sorry for myself this afternoon after several successive mishaps, then snapped out of it when I realised the significance of the date and thought of the appalling suffering that took place that day, as well as the individual acts of courage, bravery and basic humanity that alleviated some aspects of the tragedies. I wasn't in London myself, having just spent a week back there until the evening of the 6th, which remains the longest I've spent back in the capital since moving away in 1988. I was housesitting for my sister, who was on holiday with mutual friends until the 8th, so I didn't have to worry about them, nor other Central London friends who were also away, which was some relief.

I'm sure much has been said in the past about the events of that day and personal experiences/recollections on this forum, but this is a limited chance to reflect further if you so wish.

I was worried because my brother works in London and travels frequently on the Tube. I was actually home from the USA attending a conference in Durham. Its sad - but when the news came over my colleagues all in unison said - it will be fanatical -------. Sad they should think that way but sort of understandable. My first thought as a chemist was "I wonder if they used TATP. It was a sad day but plenty of great responses by our first responders and others.
