Does anyone know where the 2x159 (6 car formation) through Guildford this morning came from and where it was going? It passed through around 7:56 this morning heading toward Waterloo.

Really? I use the line up from Portsmouth on a daily basis and travel through Guildford on numerous routes and I've never seen a 159 on the PDL south of Woking - they all go via Basingstoke. Then again both units looked empty so I guess it could be part of a re-positioning for another service.
There's the 0500 6 car 159 service from Portsmouth Harbour to Basingstoke, arr 0620, which then forms the 0642 Basingstoke to Waterloo. If that service couldn't get beyond Eastleigh due to the over-run it may possibly have been reversed somewhere or other, possibly with a delay, and sent via Havant - the timings would be about right for it to be passing back through Portchester around 0700?
Just as well it was going Up the direct ECS - If they'd allowed the thing in service it wouldn't be 444s that Portsmouth Line commuters would be asking for in the peaks any more!
