Hi guys,

Thought I'd share a couple of videos with you that I've made.

1) - It's a clip of a Bachmann Class 158, that's been super-detailed to make it look absolutely battered in every way possible, passing a level crossing on the branch line of our model railway and entering one of the many tunnels.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkCZ16jOOKA

2) - Clip of another 158 (FTPE) going the other way etc.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNnOWG-EJvc

I have edited the clips with sounds of real 158s, which in my opinion sound very good.

Tell me what you think. But be kind, it's my first attempt!

If people like it I might consider doing some more with different trains. 225s, 47s, 37s, HSTs etc!

Thats really good :) well done.

Only improvements I could see are lighting, as it looks very much like a model railway. Needs to be brighter I think. And the length of the clip, seems a bit short, especially as the title sequence is so long in comparision! haha

Thanks guys. :)

EDIT - I've re-uploaded the original clip which has now been ammended with no music and much better title sequences. Also, I've uploaded a new clip of 158768 (First TransPennine Express) coming the other way with sound. More clips of other trains to come!

Sadly it's added from me and not actually coming from the 158s........yet!

When SWD get the horn right on their sound clip I might get one!

I've just added another couple of vids. This time some Class 156s.

Gonna go do some mainline trains now!

I see you have a Northern Spirit 156...Was this a repaint, kit build? As ive not seen this out to buy, I also see you have the Northern 156, just like me :)

Im trying to decipt the Northern Rail scene, so im going to look for a Wales & Borders or Wessex liveried 158 next!

Some great vids BTW! Il have to video my units too!

Ive also noticed, alot of attention to detail has gone into your layout, and i have to say, looks excerlent compared to mine!

Anyway, il stop rambling on now!

They're often around eBay :) Usually go for rather a bit though. They're old Lima models.

Gizmogle: - You beat me to it!

158809: - Ironically we've actually got three of these units. One is the weathered/super detailed one (the one in the vid), one is pristine and the other came as part of a job lot a few years ago. We were supposed to sell it, but never got round to it!

Sprinters/Super Sprinters and 158s are my scene, so we have a lot of them! 2 x 150/2s, 2 x 153s, 2 x 155s, 10 x 156s and 15 x 158s!

Bachmann did both 158745 in Alphaline Wales and West livery and 158746 in Alphaline Wessex Trains livery a few years back. You can still pick them up. I've just fitted the proper 'scoop-skirt' type snowploughs to mine. They look far better! :-P

Thanks for your comments about the layout. Me and Dad did it. I do the scenery and rolling stock, and does the electrics and track etc. We make a good team.

Il have to go up into my loft, and take some pics of my 158s together, (Well, i only have 2!)

Gizmogle, thanks for that link. That's one of the two Bachmann 158s that I haven't got my hands on yet! I wanted to bid on it, but I haven't got that sort of money just lying around yet. :-x

Having said that, I've just bought 37411 'Caerphilly Castle' in York.

Elliot, I'll try and get all the 158s in one pic, if it's possible! I'll do my best, but we're just off to Pizza Hut! ;) :D

It's the original ScotRail 'Woosh' unit (158 726), before First took over. It's on eBay as we speak......... <D

Well, good Luck with getting it!

Do you know where i would be able to get a couple more 158s? After looking round on Hattons ect, they seem to be very sparse in variety!

In my opinion, 158s are popular models due to their build and running qualities. Because of this, there isn't as many second hand ones kicking around. :(

I would (sadly) suggest eBay if there's a particular one you're after. If not then perhaps model shops (used sections?) or model shows? :|

When Bachmann release their 158s, they seem to sell out pretty quickly.

I have noticed they sell out very quickly.

Everywhere ive looked, only the WYMetro 158 is still avaliable!

Just have to wait for a Northern liveried 158 now!

The other thing that contributes to the 158 models (succes) is they can run in any region that you are modeling

Can't make my mind up about the new Northern 158s. There's too much yellow on the cab fronts, and the front skirt should be yellow and not grey.

Next on Bachmann's schedule for 158s is the Arriva Trains Wales version. :-P

Jim, I don't really run any specific region. Just any thing that takes my fancy! :D
