I agree, but sadly it's a Disabled Requirement. The 442 "Refurbs" had these similar doors.

No he means the fact they are orange instead of red. 159107 has all orange doors whereas all the other 159/1s and 442 refurbs have red inner doors and orange 'cab swoop' doors.

Yeah - that's what I mean. I didn't know a couple of the 159/1s had the orange inner doors too. Red would surely be clearer to see anyway though?

Orange is slightly brighter being different to the rest , on closer look the orange dosen't look too good!.

How many more are there to go 10?

Light things on light backgrounds don't usually work to well. It's like writing in yellow.

Looks bloody awful. Those orange doors make it look stupid. The red ones were more visible IMO.

I read somewhere Salisbury weren't happy with the orange doors situation and were planning to correct 159107/8 (and presumably the 158/0s).

i quiet like it, i think the reason you use differnt colour doors is so a visually impaired person can see where the doors are, if it was all one colour including the doors it would be hard for them to see.

Not wishing to be seen as being politically incorrect, but surely if someone's eyesight is so bad that they cannot see where the doors are on a train, then they are a danger being on the platform by themselves? There are many other dangers lurking on the platform which could cause them injury.

It's the same thing as writing 'May contain peanuts' on food packaging. It's on so many different packets of things that you'd think that peanut molecules had become part of the chemicals that make up the air

By making the doors clearly visible, they merely abide by the law and thereby reduce the risk of a very public (and messy) court case.

The point we're trying to make is that red is just as (if not more) obvious on a white background than orange. It's also how the company's "express" livery has always been.

i see where your coming from but orange is more stricking than red, if your colour blind and the doors were red u probley would not see it, but if there orange there is a veriation in colour and nore lickely to see it. (anything is better than pendo doors)

Thats what I'm trying to say; on a red background the orange doors are from colour variation so people can see them.

However, Coxster has a point: the doors in the middle would benefit from being red.

Quite nice, but the gangway door looks a bit odd. I mean, why does only the top of it have the darker flyscreen attached?

The 159/1s have a flyscreen presumably to make the refurb cheaper, the 159/0s don't have them as they were modded out at Salisbury several years ago.

That makes sense Tom, and I can see the point. :thumbup:

But why would SWT only leave the top part of the flyscreen in situe over the window, and take away the lower part?

IMO if there's going to be a flyscreen at all it needs to be a full length one like TPE 158s used to have, and also like the 158 in my avatar, otherwise it just looks daft.

I also believe that Sprinter, Super Sprinter and 158/159 units should have a gangway door with a window in, with a flyscreen over the top.

I think that having a complete gangway door shield, with no window and painted bright yellow just looks scruffy.
