Who runs this unit now? Is it FGW? :|

Hopefully they won't think of repainting it yet!

Yes it's been with FGW since last summer and still has it's 2+1 seating in the former first class area.

A very senior FGW employee told me that FGW's refurbishments/repaints start this month...

It is a ropey buggger though, all the traincrew hate it!

Thanks guys. :thumbrig:

It would be a shame to see it re-painted, seeing as it's the only 158 unit left in some form of Regional Railways Express livery. And it's my favourite 158! :blob3:

It's got a great horn!

Better laid out inside, yes. However IMHO over here, the 158's look better and are safer ;)

I always dreaded getting 158750 the interior was absolutely awful for a time. Then they refurbished it, and sent it off to FGW straight away!

I wonder if these Thailand 158s sound the same as ours? Same engine, horn etc?

Edit: The horn sounds the same as ours in that video, the high one anyway.

I went on 158750 from Fareham to Cardiff a few weeks back - couldnt fault. It sounded a lot healthier than some of the central/ex-central units ive had before. Interior wasnt grotty either.
I did notice that the engine did cut out momenterally when it reved up to depart stations though. other than that - thought it was a nice unit :)
