Hello Everyone
Does anyone know what the current status of 156417 is? Where is it currently located? Has it started being repaired since the crash or not, will it even be repaired or will it be written off by NXEA due to its age and the heavy damage done to it or will one vehicle return to traffic before the other and be hybridised with a 153 for example. How are NXEA coping with its loss now that the LM 153s have gone. Are some Yarmouth trains still bus operated in the mornings or is an EMT unit being used or have diagrmas been altered. I was at Norwich the other day and there was an odd formation in the siding next to platform 1.

47810 + Mk.3 FO + Mk.3 TSO + DVT + 47501

Is this in daily use to cover for 156417, and if not what was it doing?

Any information will be greatly appreciated :)

Just to let you know i have been informed from a high up source who is my mate, the lesser damaged car of 156417 is 6 weeks away from being mended and will return to crown point and be attached to a 153 (number uncomfirmed yet) and will be formed into a 156 / 153 hybrid like central did twice.

NXEA should hire in a LM 150 maybe as they will gradually be released from 5th September.

Does anyone know what the current status of 156417 is?

The damaged vehicle is still in bits apparently, not so damaged vehicle mentioned in another post.

Where is it currently located?

Wolverton Works

Has it started being repaired since the crash or not,

Don't know- probably not.

will it even be repaired or will it be written off by NXEA?

NXEA cant write it off. Would be done by the leasing company

due to its age and the heavy damage done to it or will one vehicle return to traffic before the other and be hybridised with a 153 for example.

At first, not well. Now, as you mention, the scratch set is used to cover which works well.

I was at Norwich the other day and there was an odd formation in the siding next to platform 1.

The hired in EMT unit I believe still only does the first Lowestoft then goes off to Liverpool. The t&t 47's are used Monday to Friday to cover peak services only to Gt Yarmouth, although it's not unheard of for it to do a Lowestoft run too. When you saw it, it probably wasn't doing much if it was in the sidings.

Any information will be greatly appreciated :)

Superb, thank you. Do you mean they have started repairing it and it will be ready to go back to crown point in 6 weeks or the repair will be started in 6 weeks.

The 47/DVT/Mk3 'unit' was strengthened to 6 Mk3's for the Lowestoft service during the Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival - 11/12th August.

47802 (Lowestoft end) and 47810 (Norwich end) were seen in charge in Platform 4 at Norwich on the morning of 11th.

the 57 car from 156417 was delivered by road from Wolverton to Dereham at the Mid Norfolk Railway on Thurs showing Stowmarket on its destination blind, then yesterday 153309 ran from Norwich - Dereham via Wymondham to collect 57417 and take it back to Crown Point, i guess this had to be done because access to Crown Point is very limited for low loaders.

57417 is now at Crown Point and is due to be paired up with 153306. I wonder if the set will be renumbered as 153306, as at Great Yarmouth class 153 units can only use platforms 1 or 3, i know they cant use platform 2 due to the curve and im not sure if there is a restriction with platform 4. My personal opinion is that the set should be renumbered 153306 then there is no chance of the set running into platform 2 at Great Yarmouth and fouling the platform.

FGW renumbered there hybrid set 153399 so it wouldnt end up working to Portsmouth Hbr due to platform restrictions.

So we have half a 150, and half a 156, both coupled to 153's (or soon to be) could we swap them around so we have 2x153, and a 150/156 combo?

According to a post on locoscene 153399 has now been split! The 2 150 coaches have been reunited although apparently it is still not ready for traffic.

Perhaps this has happened due to the increasing number of LM 150s now appearing in the South West.

153306 has trundled off to Derby tonight.

No idea why though.

Yep, 153399 was split on the 05/09/11 - shame! As that units was pretty elusive for me, always ironicaly going the opposite way to the way i was going :-x

Tell me about it! I did eventually get to ride on it when I found it about to work out of Penzance when I was arrived to take the sleeper. Short hop to St Erth was all I managed.

Is there any reason why they sent 153309 to collect it but are pairing it with 153306. It is good they are pairing it with 153306 as both are in ex-'one' colours so the livery will sort of match.

Probably gone to recieve electrical modification to make working with 57417 easier and to have it's snow-plough removed. Do we know if the 153 will be the correct way round like it was in 153399 or it will have the new cab on the outside like the Central Trains hybrid unit?

There's a long term fault with 153306 (Coolant related IIRC), causing it to sit down in service a few times recently

153309 is out of service at the moment due to poor wheelsets which is why that was used to collect 57417

Is the hauled set still in regular service, and is it likely to be for the next week?

Definatley!!

This week it has often been in service all day. Regular additional turns are 10.06 & 12.06 Norwich to Lowestoft & even 19.33 Norwich to Great Yarmouth.

Thanks. What times does it normally do off Yarmouth in the mornings?

Are these rail-replacement bus service to do with the lack of several DMUs while the hybrid 156417/153306 is created?

Is ther any reason why they have timetabled the loco-set on stopping services? I would have thought they would have but it on the Oulton Broad North only trains as it must have far poorer acceleration than a sprinter.

57417 is now back at Norwich!
I saw it today at crown point, sitting next to 153306, which is evidently back from Crewe or wherever it went. They were facing in the same direction, so if the hybrid is made now, the small cab of the 153 will be on the outside as a special treat for the drivers ;)
I have photos but don't know how to upload them.
