if anyone works at the Depot on Which the EX-GA units are based, can you let me know as soon as possible if a EX GA 156 unit will run from Carlisle to Lancaster on the 28th of august please? (Unit numbers are 156407,156409,156412,156416,156417,156418,156419 and 156422) as that would be a Very nostalgic trip back in time in the days in which the Anglia area was full of character until the Stadler 755 and 745 Flirts came in and now call the region home for the next 30+years! These trains have a Horrible horn which is too loud for UK trains and its sounds like a strangled duck! AWFULL SOUND! if you want to hear how awful, click the video link at the bottom of the post and stand well clear of any of these 755 and 745 flirt trains IRL if you want to minimize the chances of ear vibration and ringing for ages afterwards! (50+ meters is good in my opinion).

Here's a link showing just how VILE these horns are

Why don't you check their movements for yourself using RTT?

Thing is they all appear to be based at Newton Heath rather than Heaton. The Cumbrian Coast is usually run with Heaton units, so it is unusual to find one of the Anglia units working there.

They operate as part of a common pool with the other Newton Heath allocated 156s so where one will turn up on any given day isn’t known this far in advance.

I have had one on a Heaton diagram before but it’s rare. All Carlisle 156 workings are Heaton diagrams.

If I recall correctly the furthest north you’ll find a Newton Heath allocated 156 on a booked diagram is Barrow.

I doubt anyone will know which 156 is working which diagram until the nightshift of the 27th into the 28th, when the units are allocated depending on factors such as where they finished (of course!), but also mileage to next exam or heavy clean, fuelling requirements, and any defects requiring attention or which affect operations, such as non-multi restrictions.

Where exactly does low mill OMSL crossing activate for Down trains as its just beyond dalston station, Does it go Red as soon as the train pulls into dalston or does it go Red after its left dalston? we are hoping to see a pair of trains on monday or tuesday (tentatively) and am wondering do we need to be at low mill MWL before the train pulls in to see it go red or can we arrive as its just pulled out of the platform and still film the light going from green to red? need response asap.
