Just come across a picture of 153329 on flickr please click link below, its recently been repainted into the plain power car blue with the magenta (pink) doors same as the livery on the ex Silverlink and London Midland class 150s, are all the class 153 units going to be repainted into this livery or had 153329 suffered a graffiti attack and it was put into this livery.

If all the class 153s are being put in this livery does anyone know which unit is next and when will the ex London Midland class 153s gain this livery??

153329 was just due a repaint, and that is the current FGW livery. The plain painted livery is better for the bodywork than vinyls.

Apparently when the 165s and 166s go for overhaul at Wolverton they will also go into the FGW blue with pink doors
Thanks, Sam

And that IS one of the exLM 150s.
No it isn't (and we're talking about a 153 here, not a 150, but I presume that that is just a typo): 153329 has been a West Country resident for some time now, being the unit that was painted in the light blue "St Ives Bay Belle" livery in Wessex Trains days.

Aye. The two ex-LM 153s are 325 & 333, which have gained FGW website branding, put apart from that are totally LM!

Yes, catching those 2 paired up at Exmouth last year whilst on holiday made me think of home (Nuneaton) where we have our own 153 operated service.

329 isn't ex LM, but is ex Central trains and was one of the last vehicles in the UK in Regional Railways livery albeit with Central Trains branding, finally being repainted in 2005, oh god that is sad how I know that, I'll shut up now.

Although we can now (Finally!) use the digital destination blinds with FGW destinations!

Excellent! But does that mean that inside, we no longer get the useful information that we were travelling on a 'Class 153'? ;)

Don't fret, that feature is apparently still alive and well.

It seems unlikely they'll get full dynamic lines, only the new HST carriages have got that recently, and they'd look a bit silly if they didn't. At most they might have dymanic lines lights as the 180s have.

does the PIS inside 325 and 333 now show the stations the train will be calling at, or does it just give the destination as in "this train is for Exmouth"?

Don't even get that, see above for the useful info we get in it's place! <D

Just seen this dogbox pass my window - as smart as it looks, the 'First Great Western' and logo are way too small, and not consistent with their size on the 150/1s. Nice enough finish but the logo is too small, looks a bit daft next to a 150/1.

Disregarding the vile pink as always, she looks beautiful, has to be said, although the FGW logo should be centred on such a long unit with no intermediate features like doors. I wish FGW would use a slightly less offensive shade of pink - perhaps white with pink highlights like stickers, letters, symbols etc....

Apart from the pink, she looks very smart in plain blue indeed. Wouldn't mind seeing a turbo in this revised FGW livery. :)

Is it just my eyes or does this picture show the 153's sagging body quite well if you look at the window lines?

I agree, it does seem to give a bit but not so much as to jump out at you.

Out of interest, why do the 153's seem to suffer whilst other similar classes don't appear to have such issues? Construction and frame I'm guessing?

The only class similar to 153s is of course the remaining 7 155s, and they also show signs of it. That said, I think the design of the cars (with so many windows so close together) accentuates what is really only a slight issue and makes it appear worse.
