While travelling home from Glasgow today our train 156461 (the 12:47 Carlisle to barrow service) stopped at Workington, after a 10 minute wait the guard informed us that we were going to be delayed for a while as the preceding train 153304 had failed at Harrington, after another 10 minutes he then informed us that we were going to proceed to Harrington to push the stricken train forward, after passing over 3 detonators we arrived to find the forlorn train stopped at the signal which controls the single line section along the sea wall to parton, we were attached to the rear and then tried to push forward to Whitehaven, after 5 attempts at moving it, it became apparent that the brakes on the 153 were 'locked on' and wouldn't move, after some work was done the brakes were freed and the train was pushed forward to Whitehaven and the 153 was parked off at the end off the bay platform, the 156 then reversed out then into the through platform where the passengers from the 153 were loaded and the train carried on to barrow 40 minutes late
