Will the special book being issued to TfL staff be available to the public ?
(Apart from when staff put their copies on e-bay)

I was talking to one of the people, who shall remain nameless, who is helping/has helped compile the book (whilst I was on a Tube train the other day). He didn't mention any restrictions regarding availability, and seemed to be implying that the public had jolly well better buy it, considering the hard work involved!

Surely this will be a good forum to further that aim. Any idea about the where, when, how much and will there be a proper launch with the authors around to sign copies ?

Coffee table book: a gift to mark our anniversary

Next year marks the 150th birthday of London Underground, as we celebrate the anniversary of the very first underground railway journey between Paddington and Farringdon on the Metropolitan Railway.

To celebrate this huge milestone in our history a host of activities and events will be held throughout 2013. A coffee table book, which will be on sale from 29 October, has also been commissioned to mark the anniversary.

If you are interested in buying a copy - hold that thought! As a thank you for your commitment and dedication to making London Underground what it is today everyone will receive a copy of the book.

The publication will explore the Tube's fascinating history and also look at the vital role it will continue to play in the future - both in the lives of Londoners and to the economic life of London and the UK.

Mike Brown, Managing Director for London Underground and London Rail, said: "2013 will be another momentous year for London Underground, celebrating the 150th anniversary of the world's very first underground railway. It will be great time of reflection for us - a chance to look back on our historic achievements and also to look forward with optimism to our future development."
