I was the Despatcher at Vic and I questioned it, and the driver didn't believe it either lol. 005 only made it back as far as Blackburn and was diverted to Blackpool South. 007 was the unit for the remainder of the journey

It was held for half an hour at Blackburn due to Preston PSB not having been sent the correct paper work from Network rail. Now it really will become a regular thing!!

Its going to save so much messing about at Vic in regards to swapping out units off the various diagrams. The passengers are already complaining. Welcome to the real world!

Got a video of 142055 arriving in platform 1 at Blackburn from Clitheroe on a service to Manchester from last year

I might have come from that way but there is no way it made it to Clitheroe. It took 25 mins for the paper work for it run today and it was already cleared!

Are such breakdowns of communication common on the railway?

*gulp* noo!

Thanks to 175001 for his original message to me & the OP for starting the thread.

I wonder if Northern will make a regular thing of sending 142s to/from Clitheroe, or just have it as a possible last resort?

Are the 142s subject to any speed restriction, or is that not needed now that the line has been upgraded?

Reported elsewhere that the Sprinter that should have operated the service hadn't returned from it's previous service due to a vehicle hitting a bridge and only 142s were available to fill in, so it was a 142 or the service would have been cancelled.

One final thing to add, that yes there was a bridge strike but it was at the East end of Victoria. The stock that works the 16:23 comes from the west as did the 142 that pulled in. It was already swapped on this diagram at some point earlier in the day...

Today 142040 worked the 18:31pm Blackburn to Man Victoria so I assume it worked the 16:24pm Man Vic - Clitheroe and 18:08pm Clitheroe - Man Victoria

Apologies for the slight bump the thread..

Apparently 142009 made it to Clitheroe yesterday, on the 15:40 Man Vic to Clitheroe, presumably returning as the 17:07 Clitheroe to Rochdale. The third 142 to make it to Clitheroe IIRC.

I was on 142009 - this week (tuesday?). pretty sure it was the 16.26 from Salford Central. Has to ask the guard whether it was the Clitheroe train, or the Southport train i was getting on.
