14:51 Edinburgh - Birmingham train type?

I've booked advanced tickets on the above Virgin service, do any of you know what train it'll be, Voyager or Pendo?

In my experience, RTT is pretty good with giving the booked traction for VTWC workings, as there's only two options anyway. If it's a weekday should be a Pendo.

That one is usually 390, the next 2 however are not and even if the 16:51 turns out a 390 the 18:51 never has!

The 06 and 08:51 departures in the mornings are also 221s, the former though does have 10 coaches

The 1051, 1251, 1451 and 1652 are usually always 390s

The 0652, 0851 and 1851 are voyagers with the first one being a doubler.

I've been on the 1051 and the 1652 over the last two weeks and both have been nine cars but in theory a nine or an eleven can roll in.

The 1251 is usually always an eleven as its the first Edinburgh northbound (0643) in the morning and also has a departure time from Birmingham around 0800 so it's usually quite busy plus on the southbound return at 1251 is the 1710 departure from Birmingham so again it's quite busy.

More importantly because the timings are different, as there are often differentials where a 390 can do 125mph but a 221 only 115mph because of the differing degrees of tilt. A 390 could run on a 221 schedule, but the other way round it would lose time.

If RTT is wrong about it with VTWC, it is normally because it was a last minute substitution.

I've booked 1st advances and always find 1st on a 390 a little nicer.

For future reference, if reserving a seat, the seat selector will show you which it is diagrammed to be.

That happened to me last Feb on the early turn on Saturday morning. Booked a single voyager at weekends and an 11 car was chucked out instead!

If that was when I got to endure a vomiter home from Glasgow vice Pendo on the 20:10... (about 3 weeks ago?)
