14:30 to Newcastle

Just been at New Street opposite this, was 16L departing and I could have swore that when it left it went the wrong way. I.e not going back on itself.

Boarded the 14:49 to Nottingham expecting an ever so slight crawl and we've gone through fine. Looked on RTT and there was no indication it had ever left Brum and gone through Grand/Proof Jct etc. However as I type this it has now gone through there, now 31L

So where on earth did it go from New Street, and more to the point, why?

I would assume it went towards University, then via the Lifford curve thence to St Andrews Jn etc. Could be due to something such as a speedometer fault in the original leading cab.

Ah I see. That would make sense. It has now caught us up and is right up our arse going into Derby.

11:46 Southampton Central to Newcastle due 17:46 is being delayed between Birmingham New Street and Derby and is now expected to be 30 minutes late.
This is due to a broken down train.

The broken down train being that train itself! There was a fault with the unit and it diverted via Lifford.
