Does anyone have definitive information on this, since I have apparently contradictory information from several sources. My journey on 13 Oct is the 10.55 departure from Glasgow Central and I shall disembark at Exeter St David's.
I found this journey on National Rail Enquiries journey planner - zero changes - Plymouth service
I called Cross Country to book a seat (since it's for a complimentary scratchcard journey). Initially, I was told that this train was not on the system on that date (due to engineering works). Then, he looked harder/on a different system, and did find the train - and noted it was taking a bit longer than usual but was running with a diversion, and terminating at Exeter that day. A seat was therefore booked.
Checking National Rail Future Engineering it says that buses will replace trains between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton on GWR and Cross Country that day. This doesn't match the information on National Rail Enquires journey planner which says it is running through as a train. But is taking longer.
Somewhat confusing information.
I'm thinking could a train actually run from Bristol TM to Taunton via anything else than the usual route? It would depend where the closure is - taking just over an hour between these stations implies a substantial diversion, maybe via Bath and through to the Reading-Taunton line?
What matters most for me is whether it is correct that the train will run through to Exeter - as my 'ticket' is XC only.
