1000 from KGX 'The Northern Lights' first class

My partner and I are likely to need to travel from London to Edinburgh on a Friday at the end of November

Looking at the advances out until mid September now, fares are around £90 for two of us first class with a Two Together RC. Sounds a bargain!

The VTEC catering offer shows that this train offers breakfast from the cross and the middle of the day offering later on in the journey

Can someone confirm that we will get breakfast and lunch on this journey?

You almost certainly will. I've travelled the 0710 Leeds-Aberdeen often. You get breakfast early on and then lunch after Haymarket, so I don't see why it would be any different on an even longer journey like yours.

Generally on the north of Edinburgh services the second meal is served after Edinburgh so if you were travelling on to Dundee/Aberdeen then you would get two meals, but if you alight at Edinburgh you would only be served breakfast. I have never asked for or been offered a second meal if I was only going as far as Edinburgh but there's no harm in asking. Been a while too so things may have changed.

Does that mean the crew and food trolleys change over there?

Would alcohol be served from that point onward?

I used this train last year and was surprised to see everyone offered both breakfast out of the Cross and then lunch after York, there was no differentiation for passengers who had just joined. The train was pretty much full in first too. It was the same crew, London-based I think.

And yes, alcohol from York.

I've used this a few times, same as below. Also it is generally very busy in first, particularly on Thurs / Fri.
