Hi all, I am due to travel into London this coming Monday on the above service.. Just wondered how busy this train will be? Last time I used the first off-peak service in the morning from Manchester to London was in early 2018 (09:35 then) and the train was full we had to stand for the whole journey. I will be travelling with my mother and father who are both in their 90s, so they won't be too pleased if they have to stand. How busy are the first off peak services from Manchester to London now after Covid? Thanks

It’s not the first off-peak service because it’s a bank holiday.
However, if you’re concerned, why don’t you make seat reservations for the service?

Which Monday are you traveling. This Monday is a bank holiday so there are no peak restrictions -

In that case, suggest you consider getting reservations, as @jfollows has mentioned upthread, just to be sure.

Think I'd be right in saying that the 1015 is not the very first direct train from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston upon which off peak tickets are valid on an ordinary Monday morning; it's more like the third.

Off-peak - not valid to arrive at London Euston before 11:30, so valid on 1A21 09:35 and 1A23 09:55 departures before 1A24 10:15 which Man_with_beard plans on using, so it's indeed the third.

No one's obligated to really, but you'd hope there'd be at least one or two people sitting that would give up their seat for a 90 year old anyway, particularly as reserving seats is free so no money would be lost.
