I make a trip, pretty much everyday, which involves a trip between Moor Street and New Street.

Could I make a delay reclaim for either trip <station> to New Street or Moor Street to <station> if one of those journeys was delayed? It being a zonal season ticket rather than point to point season ticket is the main reason I wonder if this is allowed. Is there anything saying that there has to be an amount of time left in between two journalese?

This is using a Network West Midlands nNetwork Season Ticket (on Swift Card).

You can make as many journeys as you like with a season ticket within the period of validity. Some TOCs set a limit to the amount of compensation they will pay for delayed journeys in relation to the cost of the season ticket (e.g. capping it at 100% of the cost, over a particular time period), but there should be no issue of proof that you were indeed delayed - as surely they could look it up in the database to see that you had indeed used your Swift card to make the journeys in question.

You’re more than entitled to claim for station to other station (via bhm and bmo) but I guess you’d be needing to know what the minimum connection time is, the Birmingham equivalent of a cross London transfer time really. I do not know this.

Or you could play fair and define the journey how your journey is and not play the game by claiming for what is most advantageous. Minimum connection time is 25 minutes, If I took that long I'd probably just take the direct bus instead...
Trains usually run well* anyway, only about 3 or 4 journeys since October where this would have been the case (bet I've given away one of the stations now!).
*Within 3 minutes

I still would be delayed either way, just not an official delay!

Thanks for the replies both! Will probably do next time I get delayed!

Always worth claiming and seeing what happens. They might say yes in which case you have that result to show them if they say no on a future ocassion.
They might say no if the official connection isn’t met.
I’m not familiar with swift. Is it multimodal? If so, it would be interesting to see what happens there too given the recent farce with Northern.

It's the West Midlands smart card, and yes, it is multi modal. It's still not fully integrated yet, as PAYG is only on bus/trams atm. The season ticket I have is the train/tram/bus one so is useful. The one time trains were cancelled fully, I ended up using a bus route which wasn't on the alternate routes, so no claim sadly, yet the ticket/card still valid.
Not sure how it works in northern PTE (or whatever they call them now) areas?

AFAIK this is correct. They'll probbaly argue you didn't meet the minimum connection time to get out of paying up. Try and find out this information before making a claim.
