Hi, wondered if anyone could shed any light on this working and its purpose? A little surprised to observe a Freightliner 66 on it today - a rare sight on the Inverness Aberdeen route. Is this route learning for a new Freightliner flow in NE Scotland or something a bit more prosaic like a spot hire by another company?

Freightliner is taking over the Inverness based Railhead Treatment Trains for autumn this year. They have been route learning/refreshing with ScotRail and have run some light engine moves of their own over the last few weeks too.

Ah, right.... I hadn't thought of that option. Thanks, that explains things!
