Hi

In the SWT timetable it says that the 0900 Waterloo - Portsmouth has refreshments, does this mean its booked to be a 444? If its a 450, it must be tight to get a trolley through the 3+2 seating!

If its any help, I'm travelling a week today, the 21st

Thanks in advnance

EDIT: I just reallised this should probably be in the Rolling Stock section. Could a mod move it please :)

Unless the 450s are different, don't think there should be any problem getting a trolley through 3+2 seating, I've been on both pre-refurbishment Wessex 150s and Chiltern 165s with trolleys.

Trolleys are usually stationary on a Class 450 though, and the train you mentioned is booked for an eight car Class 450.

Hope this helps.

Indeed, but if you're looking for 444s, don't hold your breath! The only 444 workings to Portsmouth on Saturdays (during the day anyway) are the hourly services via Eastleigh. Everything on the Direct Line is 450 operated, mostly 8 car.

Ok then... What about the 0909 from waterloo next saturday..... is this 444 operated? Is it usually on time, as I am thinking of getting off a P & Southsea to get the FGW to Bristol (1122 off Portsmouth Harbour)

Booked for a 5 car Class 444, although due to engineering works in the Southampton area, it could turn out a 4 car Class 450 although that is unlikely.

Its timing keeping will be as good as any other SWT service e.g. usually great due to the enormous amounts of slack in the timetable. It arrived on time into Portsmouth Harbour today. You could always get off at Fratton or Cosham if you're running late and have to catch that FGW service, which incidentally arrived 7 minutes early at Cardiff today! :)

Yeah, but my ticket is from 'Portsmouth Stations'. Fratton or Cosham arent portsmouth stations are they? Anyway I think I'm just going to stick with the 0900 service!

Thanks for all the help!

Nothing can stop you from changing at either of those other two places.

You'll be safest on the 0900; it's a long way from London to Portsmouth via Eastleigh!
