Coach H is the buffet on LNER Mk4s and is unreserved unless they've displaced reservations from another coach due to a short form or fault in that coach.

Yes, Hitachi's conditions make it very inconvenient to have trains stabled away from a depot overnight. They effectively have to return to a depot midway through the next day.

My sister, who is booked on that train, has had a mail from LNER today stating that reservations will not be in place.

It's not set NL402, that's the diagram number. The set won't be allocated until the day.
