Hi,
The 08.27 from KGX to SUN has been cancelled today and there are no trains from KGX until at least 12pm.
I have a train that is AP GC Only until York then connecting to the Cross Country to NCL XC only.

Does anyone know if my ticket will be accepted on LNER today? There are no GC trains and all they say is travel tomorrow which I can’t do.

Thanks

Helen

No ticket easements to travel on other operators today as the message is still not to travel unless absolutely necessary.

“Unfortunately due to the extent of the damage, tickets will not be valid on alternative train operators as they will also be experiencing major disruption today”

My advice would be to re-book on LNER and claim through your travel insurance.

I would suggest that you contact Grand Central directly. They should be making some form of alternative arrangements for you.

LUMO said no alternative arrangements to me on Monday on the way down, but LNER accepted the ticket, so I’m never sure who to believe.

Travel insurance in the UK doesn’t work unfortunately only if I go abroad.

I’ll contact GC as I don’t think it’s reasonable to just say don’t travel especially when other operators will run trains post approx 12pm.

Upon checking Grand Central Twitter. It appears they are telling people once the ECML opens at 12pm they have acceptance with LNER.

My understanding is that under if a passenger would otherwise be stranded oernight, any rail operator in a position to do so is required to assist.

There is also apparently an EU rule (AIUI while we are no longer in the EU the brexit process incorporated EU rules into UK law) that requires operators to offer rebooking if a passenger would be delayed by more than an hour, but using this right in practice may be tricky. Specifically because the right it grants is to rebooking, not to just board a train without rebooking.

This right is also presumably much easier to exercise with one nationalised railway company providing most or all services in most EU countries, able to rebook onto another of its services or routes with one call. It at least takes away one layer of the jeopardy.

Hi, I'm wondering how things panned out for the you, it must have been a difficult morning and afternoon. I noticed that the first service beyond Peterborough was an LNER service to Inverness which departed 63 minutes late at 13:03. Were you able to board this? I think the first Grand Central train to Sunderland was at 14:54 (the 14:27 departure 27mins late), if you weren't on that you might want to know it arrived at Sunderland at 18:53, 60 minutes late.
