Seeing as how 08/09s occasionally venture onto the mains I was wondering if any are fitted with OTMR, DRA, AWS, TPWS etc?

AIUI they don't have to be fitted with OTMR... but are expected to have AWS and TPWS along with headlight or fitted headlamp

But i'm working from memory of forum threads when there was talk of GBRf using 09002 and 09009 on mainline trip workings

If by 08s you mean the little shunting engines then they were being boxed in by 2 class 91s from Bounds Green-kings x-ferme park-Bowes park-bounds green for refuling. I assume the boxed them in between 91s because they are not mainline cleared for what ever reason. As far as I understand it the move is not officially allowed for some reason-I seem to remember seeing something about it I'm the EC notice case at kings x. Not sure if there are any East Coast drivers on here who could confirm.

Its not unknown for the Crown Point pilots (two 08s) to make short trips to Norwich station and carriage sidings to drag failures to the depot.

I've also heard anecdotal stories (dk1 might be able to flesh them out) about them being used on rescue missions heading out towards Lakenham...

Last time I was at Whitemoor I seem to recall 09009 having an NRN radio but can't recall seeing AWS/TPWS

Yes that's correct we are no longer allowed to take them on their own to Ferme Park for fuel since the Up Goods became the Up Slow 2 due to lack of AWS/TPWS which funnily enough never stopped us returning via the Down Hertford to Bowes Park Reverser which is a shame as I used to like bombing along at 15mph and going over the Harringay Flyover on them and getting strange looks from punters on Bowes Park platform as you went through.
As you say the way to take them for fuel now is to top & tail with a pair of 91s and if only one driver available we have to go into Kings Cross to change ends whereas if 2 drivers are available we go via the flyover due to the lack of walking route at K440 signal.

WOW! would it not be cheaper to bring a bowser to Bounds Green and fuel there?
