Hi, does anybody know if the 0620 from Rugby to Euston via Northampton on Friday 7th September is going to be a Voyager (doubled or single?) or a Pendolino (9 car or 11 car?).

I'm joining at Northampton (0642) and wondering how busy it will be and whether to get the 0638 London Midland service instead.

I've read it used to be a Voyager but with the new Pendos I'm not sure if that's changed. Can I also ask how many 11 car Pendos are now in use?

Thanks very much

Was formed of a 9 car Pendo this morning (390 002) but more then often its a 5 car Voyager, normally forms the 0803 back to Birmingham

390107 390112 390114 390117 390118 390119 390122 390124 390125 390127 390128 390130 390131 390136 390137 390141 390148 390151 390154 390155 390156 390157. and the next two are currently 026 and 034 which are going to be extended to 11 car sets and renumbered 126 and 134

According to Open Train Times it is supposed to be a 390, coming ECS from Oxley.

The early Voyager run, to get units to Euston to form the 0710/0810 to Chester/North Wales, now seems to be a ECS working from Barton depot (via Birmingham), passing Rugby at 0547.

It is often a Voyager due to Pendo Shortage on the EBW's, nothing to do with North Wales, Chester etc

Actually, the reasoning behind the Pendo/Voyager is the Olympics. The 06:20 is a Pendolino during Olympic events, Voyager during non-Olympic events. However with the lengthening / timetable change, it might be different.

It will be a Pendolino, more than likely a 9 coaches set.

When it's a voyager it's absolutely rammed, see attached. If it's a pendo it's only moderately rammed, but worth doing for novelty value alone as it is the only VT service scheduled to pick up at Northampton at all.

It turned out to be an 11 car Pendo - 390 157. It was a great journey, quite busy as expected but there were still plenty of spare seats thanks to the extra carriages. Wish Virgin ran more trains to Northampton, much more comfortable than the LM 350s.
