Hi there,
This morning I was up distressingly early and I was on the 5:20am NOT - SHF service.

At Chesterfield we used platform 3 and then took the route past Barrow Hill and then came into Sheffield from the North. I've never been that way before - pity it was dark :)

Is this a usual routing for an early morning service or just one of those more random things?
Cheers,
Jason

Yes, looks like it's a regular thing. It's down to take that route tomorrow.

This service, and the last LIV - NOT train of the day take this route, along with a handful of Northern services (notable by their lack of a stop at Dronfield).

Its an interesting route, through Woodhouse/ Darnall on the old Sheffield Victoria line (if you'd not taken the left curve down into Sheffield Midland then you'd have continued through the old Victoria on to Deepcar and the old Woodhead alignment).

It does get used a bit as a diversion (planned or otherwise), especially when the Bradway tunnel was closed a couple of years ago

They're not splitting Liverpool - Norwich at Chesterfield again are they? That was a right faff.
